Adding a widget to a specific page

The theming engine is robust, and chocked full of features. One useful feature is adding a widget onto a specific page. For example, sometimes you want information to display only on one category page. Or you may want a certain form on one type of content page. There are a couple ways to do this, and we will go over the basic way to do this in this article

Widget Setup

First, you will want to determine the type of page you would like the widget to display on. Once determined, you will need to go to that theme level page. So if you want this to display on a category (which is what we will use on this KB), then go to the Category Page > Widgets in the theme editor.

After going to the page, you will then want to add a widget. Immediately after adding the widget, edit the widgets basic settings and scroll to the bottom. Here you will see an option that says Enable Merge code. Enable this option (which will hide it on the theme level page), and copy the merge code to your clipboard.

Now, you will want to set your widget up with the options that you are trying to display.

Displaying the widget on a specific page

Now that you have the widget merge code, you will want to go and edit the specific page you'd want to add this in. For a specific category page, you would edit that specific category.

Once on the category page, add it to the appropriate section you'd like it to appear. In this picture, I'm adding it to the Header area, so it will show up above the category products.

After adding it in here, you are all done! The widget should start appearing in the appropriate section, and only on the page(s) that you manually added this widget to.
