How To Use A Product Display Widget For One Specific Product
In this example, the merchant wishes for their store to have a product display widget (a section to show specific products in relation to another product without grouping them together) for just one specific product.
We are going to add this to a tab and customize the text in the tab for those products to show specifically for only one product page.
You can use any kind of product display widget you'd like. There are many to choose from. We have the following articles on Product Display widgets and Product Lists:
1.The easiest option is to turn off the show related items in tab setting.
Themes > Theme Editor > Catalog Pages > Product Details > Show Related Items on Tab
Then add a product display widget to the theme and style it as needed.
Themes > Theme Editor > Pages > Product Details > Widgets
Select Product Display
Edit Widget
Select Product Display Type
Related Items
To change the header text of the widget to no longer say "Related Items",etc. Change it under "Header Text"
Enable the widget setting
Enable Merge Code
Copy this merge code to the clipboard.
Then via the store text, edit one of the unused long desc. file to so that is it is called "Other Stuff" (or the text you wish the add).
Content > Power Features > Store Text & Languages
Edit Default
Under Search Options - Search for the key you would like to be changed to fit your widget to show in the tab. Example: We are adding a related items widget to be called "Other Stuff" in the place of the "Specifications" tab.
Long Description (Additional Information) (In this case we used Specifications) If you are placing this in a description setting of your product page, search for "Description" or "Long Description" and find the one you wish to change.
Change it to say what you would like. We are calling this "Other Stuff".
Now you will need to place the merge code you copied to your clipboard to the product itself in the description of the product you wish for it to be shown on.
Catalog > Products> Find & Edit Product
and
Now go to Descriptions > "Other Stuff" (formerly "Specifications")
add to the description.
It will now show on the store!!
