Limiting an item's quantity

Let's say that you sell a limited-run product or are running a special sale on an item.  For that particular product, you may want to limit the quantity that customers can purchase.

To prevent customers from purchasing more than one of a product, add =MX1= to the item's part number. In other words, change:

a-1358^silverwidget^Silver Widget^49.00^1

to:

a-1358^=MX1=silverwidget^Silver Widget^49.00^1

Notes:

• In AmeriCart v2012 and newer versions, you can change the quantity limit. For example, =MX3= will prevent customers from purchasing more than three. Older versions of AmerICart only support the =MX1= tag. 
• If you aren't sure which version of AmeriCart you're using, click to see screenshots of each version.
• The quantity limit only applies to a single order. If you set the quantity limit to one, it's still possible for customers to order two---they would just have to place a separate order for each one.
